Come fire up the RV Pyrobotics Team at Englewood High School this Saturday at 9:00 a.m.  The team will be competing in the Annual BEST Robotics Competition.  This year’s theme is – Crossfire!  RV’s  robotics team is going to smoke the completion with their robot!

Attention all boys planning on trying out for baseball in the spring:  There will be an IMPORTANT meeting on Wednesday, October 25 right after school at 3:15 p.m. in the small gym.

Students, if you would like to participate in a winter sport, please pick up the necessary paperwork in the athletics/attendance office or you can print it off the RV athletics website.  The deadline for winter paperwork is Wednesday, November 8 at 3:30 p.m.

Are you stressed about grades and homework?  Do you feel like there aren’t enough hours in a day?  Ralston Valley Counselors will host a Study Skills Seminar with Sycamore Learning Company.  “Prep for the Future” Study Skills Seminar will be offered at Ralston Valley High School on Wednesday, October 18 & Wednesday, October 25, from 3:15 – 5:15 p.m. in the library.  This is a two day course. You will learn great strategies on:  goal setting, note taking, study habits, test taking strategies, speed reading and much more!!  Go to the RV Counseling website and click on the Test Prep/Study Skills tab for more information and a link to register.  

 

Prepare for the ACT with a 10-hour ACT EXPRESS PREP Program through College Drive.  The cost is $229.  The class will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays (October 17, 19, 24 and 26) from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.  Go to www.collegedrive.com for more information and to register.

Sophomore, Junior and Senior students should be on the lookout for your invitation to the Academic Awards.  The invitations have gone out, so you should have received it by now.  Make sure to RSVP to the Main Office if you are planning to attend.

Attention Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors:  Remember that TOMORROW is SUPER TEST DAY.  Arrive at school by 7:25 a.m. and make your way to your testing room.  Testing room locations are posted outside of the Counseling Office.  The test will begin at 7:35 a.m.  You must bring two #2 pencils, an approved calculator and your student ID.

Seniors should arrive at 12 noon and check in at the auditorium.

The grills will be fired up at 5:00 p.m. – for $5 you will get a hamburger, chips and soda.  All profits will go to the Lisa Nelson Memorial 5K.

·        After the Powder Puff Tournament, be sure to stick around for the Bonfire from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m.  There will be a DJ, hot chocolate and snow cones.  Everyone will be there, will you?

 Standley Lake High School is hosting a College Night tomorrow from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.  All north area families are invited.  There will be an information session about Financial Aid and Scholarships presented by a representative from St. Louis University from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., followed by a session on Finding the Perfect Fit, which will be presented by a Texas A&M admissions representative.  Over 50 Colleges will be in attendance.

 Don’t forget to come out and support the RV Mountain Bike Team tonight from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Chipotle located at 64th and Ward.  Tell the cashier that you are supporting the RV Mountain Bike Team and 50% of the proceeds will be donated to our riders!

Show up to RV by 7:00 p.m. to watch Jurassic Park.  The movie will be outside so dress warm, bring blankets, but don’t worry about snacks - concessions will be sold.  The movie should end by 9 pm.

 

Come support the Ralston Valley Mountain Bike Team and show your RV spirit by purchasing your RV running/riding socks during lunch on Fridays.  You can also support the team by coming to Chipotle at west 64 and Ward Road for dinner on Wednesday, October 4.  Half of the proceeds will go to the RV Mountain Bike Team!

The Friends of Rachel RV Club will be collecting disaster relief supplies to donate; this can be anything from instant oatmeal to socks to toilet paper. There will be boxes in C2236, the Math Office, and the Security Desk in the lobby.  Anything is appreciated!

It’s back!!  Post-Secondary Wear Friday.  For those of you who are new to the RV family here is the scoop – on the last Friday of the month the Counseling Department asks all staff to wear ANY post-secondary garment which could include any 2 or 4 year college or university, or any military wear.  All staff member names are put into a drawing, if your name is randomly selected and you have your “gear” on, then you get to come down to the Counseling Department and pick out a prize from out highly sought after college prize drawer.  Tomorrow is the last Friday in September, and therefore, please wear your gear and support our students as they pursue their “life after Ralston Valley” dreams.

Any student riding the bus this year is required to have a bus pass.  If you do not have your bus pass, yet you must pick it up during lunch on either Tuesday or Wednesday.  Someone from District transportation will be in the lobby passing them out during both lunches.

The Jeffco Student Health Advisory Council is now accepting applications.  If you are interested in having a voice in health in our school district, and impacting the health of other students, you should apply!  The council meets monthly, each member receives a $25 stipend per meeting, with dinner provided.  Deadline to apply is September 26th.  Stop by the counseling center for more information!

Today is the last day to order your RVHS Spirit Wear!  If you order by today then you will receive it the week of September 25, which is the week prior to Homecoming.  Use the STORE icon on the Stang Gang App to order your gear.  All proceeds benefit the 24 sports via the RV Boosters Club.

Girls interested in playing basketball this winter should attend a meeting tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. in the gym.  Check the girls’ basketball website for information if you cannot attend.

Get your Ralston Valley Fight Song t-shirt in the lobby during lunches, or see Ms Watts after school.  The cost is $10.  Wear your Fight Song t-shirt this Friday to our first home football game against Fountain Fort Carson.

Congratulations to our Mustang Mountain Bikers who competed in the Frisco Bay Invitational in Summit County last weekend.  The weather was perfect and the competition was stiff!  Special recognition to RV’s top point scorers:  Ian Fromm, Grace Pipho, Tanner Davis and Jonas Kahila who all earned to 20 finishes!
