Welcome to Our Newest Majors: Gayla Heck - AEG, Ana Camacho - Geol, Cheyenne Smith - EST.  Please do not hesitate to let us know how we can best support you with your goals. (Geol = Geology major, AEG = Applied Environmental Geosciences major, EST = Earth Science Teaching major).

End of An Era -- Dr. Jeff Eaton to Retire: It's bittersweet news; Dr Jeff Eaton will retire from Weber State University at the end of this semester. Jeff has been the department's consummate "soft-rock" geologist since 1995 and has had a distinguished research and teaching career. His research, including the supervision of many undergraduate research projects, has greatly expanded our knowledge of Late Cretaceous environments of the Colorado Plateau region. Jeff has received many awards during his tenure at WSU, including a John S. Hinckley Fellowship and the Spencer Seager Distinguished Teaching Award. Jeff's wife, Dr. Linda Eaton (Anthropology), is also retiring, and the two of them are looking forward to becoming full-time residents of Tropic, UT -- where Jeff will get to spend even more time "on the outcrop." They both will be greatly missed by the WSU community.

Congratulations Graduates!: The Department is proud to announce that the following students will have their degrees conferred during WSU's 145th Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 1: Brady Boyter (Geol); Matt Collins (Geol); Michael Garlick (Geol); Jeff Perkins (AEG); Nick Pinnau (AEG); Sherri Sprague (AEG); and Tynna Wallen (AEG). In addition, the following geology majors will graduate this summer following completion of summer field camp at Utah State University: Michael Hess; Gary Mobbs; Andrew Park; Ashely Provow; and Edward Zajac.  This is a great group of students who will be missed next year -- Good luck in all your future endeavors.

Department Year-End Picnic: The Department of Geosciences Year-End Picnic & Party will be held atFort Buenaventura on Saturday, April 25, 3-6pm. We'll celebrate a great year of hard work, dedication, and friendship - along with Dr. Jeff Eaton's retirement. Past, present and future Geoscience students and their families are welcome!  Keep your eyes open for flyers around the department or in the Majors' Room for more information.

Questar Corporation Hiring: Questar Corporation is now hiring for two positions. O
