This is a masterlist of many (if not all) significant Iron Man armors, adjacent ones such as War Machine or Rescue, and their capabilities. It will focus on comics, primarily the prime 616 universe, but some alternate universes and MCU may come down the line. As the list progresses, things become standardized. Consider each new addition to be considered standard from that point onwards, unless it is obvious that this is a specialized armor (Ex, Hulkbusters, Ice Armor, Endo-Sym)

This list is intended to be used by fic writers, but Marvel should probably take a look at this as well.

Stark-Only Armors

The Beginning

  • Model I
  • History and Notes: The Model I armor was the original suit, built by Tony Stark in Afghanistan while captured, helped by Ho Yinsen. Stark used it for a while as the start of Iron Man, repainting the suit golden. He phased it out after a while, but uses it periodically if he needs a low-tech suit. Suit-up time takes 90 seconds. It was clunky, loud, and non-flexible.

Node, which MCU fans will know as the “arc reactor”. The node also provides heightened mental capacity and multitasking abilities. •  Model L, Endo-Sym Armor
  • History and Notes: Created during the AXIS inversion, when a large group of heroes and villains had their moral alignments inverted, this armor focused much more on ego and control. It employed a special graphene layer over the face when the mask was removed, allowing for unobstructed view of the head, while also being bulletproof. LEDs embedded in the armor usually lit up blue, but could change to red for extra menace. The armor was fully psionically bound to Stark, and the systems were a liquid smart-metal based on symbiote systems.

  •  Model LI, Model-Prime
  • History and Notes: After Riri Williams went viral for reverse-engineering one of his prior armors and posting her work online, Stark knew he needed to work harder to remain ahead of the technological curve. Shutting himself in his lab, he made the Model-Prime, an armor that could shift shape, color, and abilities based on the current task, and render all previous armors obsolete. When not in use, it usually retracts into a bracelet, and can activate in barely a second. All weaponry is variable but defaults to a standard design.
