GARETH - Include copy of UOI planner with reflections. This will show student reflection and input - global.

AMANDA: Regular student reflections (not only at the end). Next steps with teacher presence.

Greater focus on key concepts throughout books and tasks.

REGAN:

1. Make other connections to PYP, rather than just the inquiry cycle in the contents page
2. Remember to get students to reflect more often, not just at end!

4. Summative statement relating to students learning throughout UNIT, rather than just summative task!

Are we continuing with this next year?? IB has stated that we are expected to remove this option as a condition of our authorisation (based on feedback with Daryl Gibbs) - if we keep this, it will seriously jepordise our re-evaluation visit. (Gareth)

Learners need to be well prepared for this.  Focus is on knowing what learners know and what they need to work on next.  Powerpoints are a supporting tool not a tool that controls the conference.  A reminder that we can not promise accelerate classroom placement.  Students can speak in their ‘mother tongue’ as well as English.

Administration information - is the memo enough?

Staff indicate that they would like more PD on PYP, te reo and eLearning (strategic goals).

We could do this within the time allocated to staff meetings but then we will have to agree to maximise the use of electronic systems of communication such as the memo.  Thoughts?  Can this be done?  What challenges are we facing?

Options open for discussion by teams include:  call back days in the holidays, TOD (longer teaching year) or continue with the current afterschool programme of PD.

• Prefer a call back day in the holidays for PD instead of regular after school days.
• Team finds it hard to focus after school
• We also wouldn’t mind teacher only days during the year even though it would mean a slightly longer school year.

Maths observations/ in-class support begins week 3

TECH ARTS

Arrival times (especially after lunchtime) & borrowing, use of equipment/resources.

Please work together to get learners to specialists classes on time.  This includes supporting learners to be ready for learning eg with equipment, shoes and bags sorted, bins sorted (perhaps share this with another nearby team), bags packed before the break.

Back field/Promo activities finish at 1.45pm. (Trial a ‘clear the back field’ bell)

A reminder that interruptions to the specialist classes to request equipment/resources during the block must be minimised.  Please book in ahead/follow protocols eg booking out laptops.
