LATCHMOOR

THE COMMON

GERRARD’S CROSS

September 9th 1914

Dear Mr de László

I have just received your picture of Mrs Harmsworth [6909] and shall start the copy [4751 or 4753] at once.

Yesterday I went to Londonderry House and saw the portrait of Lord Castlereagh [6147]. They do not want to part with it and wish the copy [6149] made here.

I have said I would do it

there immediately I have finished the Mrs Harmsworth [4751 or 4753] and I said my price was £40. Lady Castlereagh will let me know soon whether she wishes me to do it. I like the portrait very much. When I first heard of the possibility of another copy of the Mrs Harmsworth being wanted I wrote

to my brother who is a paper and board merchant asking if he could supply me with a board similar to the one you use.

He wrote back saying I could get a manufacturer to make a board exactly like in every way but I should have to order 25 or 50. I had sent a small piece of board for him to see. I told him I could not

go any further in the matter without asking your permission. I hope you do not mind my making these enquiries. It has occurred to me since, that you might like to know of a place in this country where you could get the boards.

Yours sincerely

Frederick Cullen
