Senior Developer for Mobile Education Startup
BlenEd early stage Mobile Education Startup, providing trained and qualified tutors for K-12 students through their mobile phone and table. The right programmer will join as the CTO and co-founder.
BlenEd is looking for someone to design and build its advanced application for our Android and iOS platforms. You must have a passion for your job and handle the pressures and challenges of a startup environment.
You must be capable of using the latest tools and methodologies to develop high-quality products. You must enjoy finding creative and optimal solutions for challenging problems and work with minimal supervision. Attention to detail and initiative are key requirements. Ultimately, you must also share our passion for creating the very best educational app for students.
Responsibilities
The specification, design, architecture and implementation of Android applications for phones and tablets:
- Design and build advanced applications for the Android/ iOS platform
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
- Work with outside data sources and API’s
- Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability
- Work on bug fixing and improving application performance
- Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency
Required Skills
- BSc. or MSc. in Computer science degree or equivalent
- 4+ years experience as a software engineer
- 2+ years Android development
- Published examples of mobile applications on the Android market
- Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON
- Strong understanding of OO design, algorithms, design patterns and programming skills in Java
- Experience with third-party libraries and APIs
- Deliver across the entire app life cycle, including concept design, build, deploy, test, release to Play Store and support
- Knowledge of modern version control systems (ideally Git using Gitflow)
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills
- Solid testing / QA skills
- Ability to estimate tasks and plan projects
- Live within commuting distance\) or prepared to relocate
- Eligible to work in the US
Background
BlenEd Founded in 2013 mobile learning platform will enable students and schools to access content from the world’s leading academic publishers on their mobile phone. Additionally, students can interact with their tutor, classroom teacher and parents.
BlenEd will works with major academic publishers Pearson and McGraw-Hill.
