Friday 01 July 2016 – Term 2 - Week 9
VALUE FOCUS FOR NEXT TWO WEEKS:
From The Principal
Kia ora tatou katoa, Annyong Haseyo, Talofa, Malo e lelei, Bula vi naka, Kia orana Nga mihi nui ki a koutou, Namaste, Nihao, Greetings to you all.
Welcome to all the new families and Whanau to Elm Park School. It is hard to believe that we finish Term 2 next Friday 8 July at 3.00 pm. Everyone is looking forward to the two week break in spite of the weather that we are currently experiencing. Rain, rain, rain……and more rain.
Term three begins on Monday 25 July and we look forward to seeing all the smiling, happy faces on our returning students who will all ready to get back to their learning after the break.
We will be saying farewell to two of our teachers, Ms Michelle Lennon from Year 2, Room 8 and Mrs Susan Nelson from Year 1, Room 4 as they head off to new positions in other schools. We would like to thank them for all their hard work during their time at Elm Park and wish them well for the future. We are currently interviewing for new staff to take up these classes for next term.
Many thanks to Mrs Carina Borcher for working hard in Room 21 in Mrs Lucy Adamson’s absence and to Mrs Claire Nightingale for her hard work in Room 23 while Mrs Alicia Howard has been on sick leave. These two teachers have done fabulous work with the students during their time here. Mrs Sue Dane will be taking over Room 21 in the new term and Mrs Alicia Howard has returned to work this term.
During the first week back of Term 3, there will be an Art Exhibition of all the Enrichment Art done by the groups of students that work with Mrs Keryn Scott. The exhibition will be open until 4.30 pm during this week. Feel free to come along and view the fabulous work done by our students.
The Road Crossing and parking outside the school continues to be a nightmare for everyone. Please be patient and courteous as this is difficult and you are role models for the children.
If the current behaviour continues to be unpleasant we will be inviting the local Police to issue tickets to all the offenders who park on yellow lines, over driveways and abuse the staff and other parents. This is not acceptable.
This will be the last newsletter before the end of the term so wishing everyone a lovely holiday.
Kind regards
Trish Plowright
Principal
Looking Ahead
CHANGE OF CLOTHES - During this wet weather we have more and more children coming to the office for a change of clothes due to slipping over or jumping in puddles. We have completely run out of shorts or track pants in the first aid room and we have very few culottes. Please could you put a change of clothes in your child's bag otherwise we may have to call you to come to school during the day to change your child.
SPARE CLOTHES / BORROWED CLOTHES - We would appreciate the return of clothing items borrowed by children from the first aid room. Thanks.
Options for reporting your child’s absence - please ensure you let us know by 9.30 am. It is important that you notify the office, not just the teacher in case of relievers etc.
Text 021 134 0916 Phone 09 5770070 and press 1 to leave a message on the absence line.
Email secretary@elmpark.school.nz or use the Skoolbag app. Report via the school website.
NEW ENROLLMENTS FOR THE REMAINDER OF 2016 AND 2017
Parents wishing to have their children attend Elm Park School must complete an application form for enrolment. If your child turns 5 this coming year or next year and we have yet to receive an enrolment form, please contact the school office for one or click here to download one. If you put your younger child’s name on the bottom of an older sibling form when enrolling, you still need to fill out an enrolment form. The best time to enrol your child is around their 4th birthday. If you know of children in your extended family, street or neighbourhood who are intending to enrol, please could you encourage them to do so early as class numbers fill up quickly.
ART EXHIBITION - Elm Park Enrichment groups from Y1-6 will be exhibiting their artwork Week 1 Term 3 in the auditorium. There will be 80 pieces of work on show. Please feel free to call in to view how we are “Making our Mark”
