NEW VOLUNTEER / NEW EMPLOYEE / NOT IN COMPASS
If you are planning on volunteering in any capacity, SRCS follows the Diocese of Raleigh’s Safe Environment policies and procedures to ensure the protection of children and youth. In order to volunteer here, you must complete the following four steps:
STEP 1 → Determine which Level of Volunteering you are. For more information watch the video.
- Level A Not directly supervising children, but interacting with children on behalf of your ministry, once or twice a year at school, parish or campus activities or events.
- Level B Not directly supervising children, but interacting with children on behalf of your ministry, a few times a year at school, parish or campus activities or events.
- Level C Have direct supervision of children, i.e. chaperones, club leaders, faith formation volunteers, coaches, event coordinators.
STEP 2 → Complete the instructions associated with your level of volunteering.
- Level A Complete Form for Level A Volunteers and return to your volunteer coordinator. This will be your ministry leader, school liaison or parish office.
- Level B Complete Form for Level B volunteers and return to your volunteer coordinator. This will be your ministry leader, school event coordinator or parish office.
- Level C Complete steps below.
- STEP 1 → Login into COMPASS, which is the Diocese of Raleigh’s new platform for background check and safe environment related topics, and create an account (right side of screen) using the code 4DORbgcheck34 during the registration process.
- STEP 2 → After you create your COMPASS account, you will be directed to complete a background check. This is required of all Level C volunteers in schools and parishes, effective July 1, 2024.
- STEP 3 → Sign up to take the safe environment training. Calendar for Initial SET Training
- STEP 4 → Complete the Form for Level C Volunteers
- STEP 5 → Return the Level C Form and SET Certificate to school office or parish office
NOT NEW / ANNUAL RENEWAL OF SAFE ENVIRONMENT TRAINING or EXPIRED BACKGROUND
- Login into COMPASS, which is the Diocese of Raleigh’s new platform for all safe environment related topics and background check verifications.
- Follow prompt to complete training and background check if expired.
- If you can not log into Compass, contact your school or parish SET coordinator to provide you with your email address on file in the Compass system. You will then use this email to request to reset your Compass password on the login page.
If you do not know if you have a compass account, contact your SET coordinator and ask them to
- Use your email to see if you have a profile in Compass. If your profile is not found, revert to New Volunteer instructions.
- If an email is found, the coordinator will provide you with the email address set up in compass. Use this email address to request a password reset on the login page.
