As Hurricane Sandy exited the East Coast and people on the island were configuring the damage , i took the time out to interview my grandmother and how she dealt with the storm .
1. “What was it like being it a house with no power ?”
my grandma : “It was alright , but then i just grew impatient . lucky i had a fully charged phone though .”
2. “What happened to the food in the house ?”
my grandma : “I had to throw most of it away . thankfully i have a job , and that means getting money . so i was able to buy more food .”
3. “What did you do in your spare time ?”
my grandma : “I was texting family and friends making sure they were okay .”
4. “How were your neighbors dealing with the aftermath ?”
my grandma : “Some were outside raking leaves , tryna see what damage they could assess .
5. When you weren’t at home , where did you go ?”
my grandma : “I actually spent most of my time in the house . there was really nowhere to go since no one really had power .”
6. “Where you even able to travel anywhere ?”
my grandma : “Yes , but where is there to really go if every place around you has no power ?”
7 . “How did you feel hearing about the people who lost their homes , cars , and the ones who passed away ?”
my grandma : “I felt really lucky , but of course i felt bad . i didn’t know the storm would reach this much havoc .”
