About the Programme BBYDI and FactCheckAfrica are implementing a 9-month project to safeguard Nigeria's 2027 General Elections. The ToT programme will equip 100+ young adults, educators, and CSO representatives across Nigeria to detect AI-driven disinformation, verify electoral claims, and lead peer-to-peer digital literacy campaigns. Trained participants serve as Digital Democracy Champions.
The programme covers three pillars: - Pillar 1 — Countering disinformation: deepfake/AI detection; MyAIFactChecker (web & WhatsApp).
- Pillar 2 — Electoral monitoring: EVIT incident reporting and three-stage verification.
- Pillar 3 — Civic mobilisation: OGBV defence; community advocacy; YVoteNaija amplification.
Who Should Apply? - Young adults aged 18–35 (exceptional applicants above 35 considered).
- Educators, teachers, or school administrators.
- NGO/CSO staff, volunteers, or youth-led group members.
- Journalists or community radio practitioners.
- Youth leaders or student union representatives.
Women, girls, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) are especially encouraged to apply. Priority given to applicants from: Lagos, Rivers, Abia, Kano, Borno, and Kwara — all states and FCT welcome.

| Champion Roles & Responsibilities Selected participants will serve as Digital Democracy Champions (August 2026–January 2027). This is an active, time-bound role with the following responsibilities:

- Confidentiality: Handle all EVIT and community data with strict data protection standards.
- Inclusivity: Ensure sessions are accessible to women, PWDs, and marginalised groups.
- Non-partisanship: Remain politically neutral — this programme is non-partisan.
- Responsiveness: Reply to the coordination team within 24 hours.
- Accountability: Unfulfilled commitments (without justification) may affect future participation and stipend.

Selection Criteria - Commitment to digital literacy, fact-checking, or civic engagement.
- Ability to communicate in at least one Nigerian language (desirable, not mandatory).
- Willingness to lead post-training peer-education activities.
- Representation of underserved groups (women, PWDs, rural, marginalised youth prioritised).
- Geographic distribution across 6 geopolitical zones.
- Quality and clarity of motivation responses.
