RESOLUTION FOR DISPOSAL OF SURPLUS PROPERTY 2016-27


Pursuant to K.S.A. 72-8212(d), as amended, the Board of Education of the Unified School District No. 377, Atchison County, Kansas, hereby authorizes the Superintendent or designee to dispose of school district property no longer needed by the district in accordance with board policy and the following declaration.

Disposition of items with a collective value of more than $10,000 shall be listed and provided to the Board of Education. Methods of disposal shall include but not be limited to the sale of identified items, donation to nonprofit groups, or disposal.

Declaration and Disposal of Surplus Property

In the course of time, through normal use and attrition, district-owned equipment and furnishings become obsolete, worn-out, or lose useful value.

When specific items have been identified as surplus, or no longer having a useful life, it shall become the responsibility of the business office to arrange for the disposition of such surplus articles. Building administrators shall report to the business office any items identified as surplus property.

The business office will determine if the identified items have value and can be utilized elsewhere in the district. Items that continue to have value may be offered for sale. Any items having no value, or value less than $500 and not included in annual inventories of real property, shall be disposed of as deemed appropriate at the discretion of the superintendent’s designee, by methods to include, but not limited to:
