LONDON,

17th July, 1931.

I regret the delay in replying to your letter,[1] but I have been unusually busy lately and unable to attend properly to my correspondence.

I am enclosing herewith copy of my last letter to M. Valsuani,[2] from which you will see that it is my desire to have the three bronze statuettes [11339] but wish to have one only sent to me at first in order that I may see if the patina is to my liking so that, if necessary, the other two may be altered accordingly. I fully appreciate that you have given every assistance toward the success of the casting of your splendid little statuette of me, and all I require is to be certain that the patina will harmonise with other bronzes which I possess. As promised in my letter to Valsuani, I am prepared to send him Fcs.1000 in advance if he will undertake to send me one statuette, and when I let him know that I am satisfied with it he can send me the other two and I will remit to him the balance of Fcs.5000, and also pay the cost of carriage, etc. I therefore trust this will be now in order.

I am very pleased to hear that my portrait [7368] of you is appreciated, as I feel it is one of the best of its kind which I have done latterly.

Hoping you are well and that I shall have the pleasure of seeing you during my next visit to Paris in the Autumn,

Believe me, | Cordially yours,

Editorial Note:
