Kate is an award winning director with experience in narrative features, short film, music videos and commercials. A directing graduate of UCLA, her love and enthusiasm of the craft of filmmaking is infectious. Five of her shorts have screened at Cannes. She was one of the first independent filmmakers to shoot on 4K with the Sony F65 and as a result, has had her work distributed on the Sony 4K TV.

Kate also produces and writes her own projects along with features for independent filmmakers. She has several projects in various stages of development and pre production and is currently exploring the world of VR. Her next project is a documentary about women in rock and roll. Cindy Baer has helmed 2 features and 4 shorts that have appeared collectively in over 100 film festivals and garnered 40 Film Festival Awards, 2 Prism Award Nominations, as well as inclusion in several "Top Films of the Year" lists.  Her most recent feature ODD BRODSKY is a quirky Wes Anderson style comedy about a woman who'll do just about anything to make it in Hollywood. Alexis Ostrander is an award-winning Los Angeles based filmmaker with a penchant for raw, human stories. She is a graduate of Syracuse University and was part of the 40th annual AFI Directing Workshop for Women. Alexis’ short film “The Haircut” premiered at AFI FEST (2014) and has played at 45 festivals, garnering 13 awards. Alexis was selected for the inaugural 2016 Ryan Murphy (RMTV) Half Foundation Mentorship Program and subsequently directed the penultimate episode of American Horror Story: Roanoke on FX. She was a participant in the Fox Filmmakers Lab and Fox Global Directors Initiative and was a drama fellow for the apprenticeship program on Homeland. Currently, Alexis is one of five directors in the inaugural Warner Bros. Emerging Film Directors Workshop and directed a grounded sci-fi short film called “Sensum." Alexis is attached to direct two feature films and is currently developing several projects for film and television. Alexis is represented by Echo Lake Entertainment and CAA.


Sarah Phillips (AWD Member, HollyShorts 2017 Official Selection)

Sarah Phillips is a director, writer, and producer in Los Angeles, and co-founded Phileon Productions with Laetitia Leon in 2014 with one mission - increase women in front of and behind the camera. On every production since then, including short films, branded content, web series, and music videos, they have set the bottom line at least fifty percent women characters, and fifty percent production crew, usually surpassing that. Her short film, "Smile: A Musical," played at Dances With Films in June 2017, and is playing at HollyShorts Film Festival on August 16th at noon - Come! The screenplay of the same won Best Short Drama Screenplay at Nashville Film Festival in 2016. Her sci-fi short film "Separation of Church and Livia" was in the top five of the highly competitive AT&T Shape Create-A-Thon in July 2017. She is attached to direct two feature films, and is developing other television, film, digital series, and virtual reality projects.
