Now it’s your turn to do some research on an invention. Listed below are some ideas for topics, but it is by no means the only acceptable inventions to research.

Your job will be to write a paragraph that contains:

a topic sentence,
three to five supporting details, and
a concluding sentence.

Take a look at the paragraph below, how would you grade the writing?

The toilet has been a major factor in improving the health of the world. Its inception along with the sewer system decreased the death rate by eliminating the cross contamination of waste water with drinking/cooking water. The toilet impacts daily life by allowing people to have a sanitary method of getting rid of waste while also maintaining a certain amount of privacy. This invention is not always noticed by people in developed areas of the world, but it is definitely something noticed when not present.
