BIENVENIDOS
A ESPAÑOL
7th Grade
2025-2026
I am excited about what we are going to learn this year in Spanish class. We are going to discover the language and how to speak it, but also the culture of the Spanish speaking world. Our class time will be spent learning new vocabulary, grammar and also experiencing where and how the people who speak Spanish live.
My grading policy will be like this:
35% Classwork and Participation
This includes answering questions, notebook checks and attempting to speak in Spanish. There will also be warm-ups to review vocabulary. These will help you study and will be a weekly grade. At times there will be self-evaluations to help keep you on track as part of this grade.
25% Class time and Homework
Most of your homework will be started and at times completed during class. You need to have it with you on the day it is due or handed in prior to that day to receive a 100%. If you do not have it at the beginning of class, it will be considered LATE! Each day that it is late, 10 points will be deducted. No homework will be collected after 4 days and the grade will stand at 50%. If you miss class because of music lessons, or absences, you will have 1 day to hand in the homework at the 100% grade. As we all know, school can change in an instant. It is important that all assignments given, whether they be in person or on-line need to be completed to the best of the student’s ability. Students will also have review activities for the days they are not in Spanish class.
Anyone using a translation device such as Google, WordReference.com and/or Spanishdict.com for assignments for other than one word will be in danger of failing that assignment as that is considered plagiarism.
You also need to be prepared for class with your book, a pen or pencil, and your notebook. I will take points off your class grade for the times you are unprepared. Any work that is done in class may be graded as well.
25% Quizzes
There will be weekly or biweekly vocabulary and/or grammar quizzes that will be averaged together to make up this grade.
35% Tests and Projects
There will be at least 2 chapter tests each quarter. Projects will occur as necessary. Some projects will also be displayed on the side wall.
If you need to schedule some time to make up a quiz or test, we will do so at the end of the period, or you may email me. Come each day ready to learn and have fun!
