  1. Contact to hire a boat/check safety issues.

Transport/access

Nearest public transport is the railway station - 5 minutes walk.

Public car park available at location.

Large lake/shooting round water – risks need to be assessed for location and PRAF done.

There are animals at the park farm that would need to be considered if filming there.

Toilets are available in the cafe.

The cafe provides shelter on the north side of the park and the boat club provides shelter on the east side.

Camera/sound

There’s no power supply available to us anywhere at the location.

On the east side of the lake there are some pylons that could cause problems if shooting in that area.

Food

There’s a cafe serving basic confectionery/sandwiches in the grounds.

Green Dragon pub is just outside the park on the main road - good selection of snacks and main courses.

Potential locations

There are two good viewpoints by the lakeside – Talon view and Falconer view (see over).  The boat club looks quite good but there’s a lot of potential disruption from members arriving/leaving and taking part in activities and access is not easy.  (Photos available if you want to see them)

There’s a farm where we can shoot if we want to.  Fairly static and not particularly interesting/unusual.

Location 1 – Talon view

Transport/access

  1. Easy vehicle access to this location on the north side of the lake with car park nearby.
  2. Very short walk to pathway beside lake that gives easy access to a long stretch of lakeside.

Camera and lighting issues

  1. This view over the lake faces east.
  2. Paved area and easy access would make this a good location for tracking shots.

Sound issues

  1. The proximity of the car park could be a problem – cars arriving/leaving the car park and visitors can be heard when on the lakeside footpath.

Director issues

  1. There were lots of ducks around to provide cutaways .
  2. Tracking shots possible (see above).
  3. When boats are sailing from the sailing club (mainly in the afternoons) they will be visible from this location.

Location 2 – Falconer view

Transport/access

  1. No vehicle access to this location.  It’s quite a hike (half a mile) from the car park along a rough woodland path that could be muddy.

Camera and lighting issues

  1. This view over the lake faces south.
  2. The ground around the lakeside is uneven and could be muddy so tracking could be a problem.

Sound issues

  1. This is a quiet location with no potential disruption.

Director issues

  1. Only occasional ducks here.
  2. Tracking shots difficult (see above).
  3. When boats are sailing from the sailing club (mainly in the afternoons) they will be visible from this location.
