Jack Callow appointed State Representative
Rockford Hills (City Hall) -- Governor McKenzie appointed Jack Callow earlier today to the position of State Representative to fill the vacancy left by James Paxton's resignation earlier this week.
Jack Callow has worked alongside the government for some time, as the former Chief Pilot of the San Andreas Flight Authority. Callow spent several months building the state's air infrastructure from Summer 2021 - December 2021. Since December, Callow has spent his time maintaining the Hanging Gardens, a local flower shop in Rockford.
Callow will be sworn in tonight, July 13, 9:00 pm EST at City Hall - Press and public are invited.
Callow mentioned in a statement, “I'll be brief. I didn't take this position to help the government, or promise mass amounts of change I'll never achieve due to the checks and balances in place. I took this position for the people. I have and always will believe in the absolute freedom of people over the needs and wants of the government. With that being said, I don't care what department you're from, what your rank is, or any of that because at the end of the day when you strip away those labels you are people. I'm here to give a damn in a system that gave up on us a long time ago. That is all.”
As outlined in the San Andreas constitution, the governor can appoint someone to a representative seat after the halfway point of the term, should one come available.
From the San Andreas State Constitution: “Subsection III – Vacant Seats: If a Representative dies, resigns, or is removed from office during their term, their seat shall be considered vacant. If there is less than 2 months remaining in the regular term, the Governor may appoint a Citizen of the State of San Andreas that is eligible to serve to that seat. If there is greater than two (2) months remaining in the regular term, a Special Election shall be held to contest the seat democratically.”
The executive is excited to see a new face enter the legislature, and is excited to see what Callow will complete by the end of the term in September.
