Using ALT codes - On Windows

(push and hold the ALT key while type these number sequences--if your laptop doesn't have a number pad you may bed to use a "fn" key as well.)

*NB: After experimenting with some laptops, it seems that even using the “fn” key doesn’t work with some of these and you may want to plug a full keyboard (with number pad) into the laptop.

For Chromebook Users

Using the US International keyboard 

• Sign-in and go to settings by clicking in the Status Area (by your account picture) in the lower-right corner, then clicking on the Gear icon.
• Scroll to the bottom and look for Show advanced settings, click it.
• Scroll down to Languages and input settings
• Put a checkmark next to US international keyboard under “Input Method”.
• Click Done
• You will see US in the Status Area (bottom right). Click on US.
• Scroll up to US keyboard and click on it.
• Choose US International. Now INTL will appear in the status area (see pic above).

You can switch to the international keyboard on a chromebook in the settings.

On a Macintosh

1. Press and hold the option key, then press the “e” key        
2. Release both and press the vowel you want accented
