Area Manager Job Duties
Updated December 23rd, 2024
General Manager - Area Manager - Catering Manager - Maintenance Manager
- Maintain schedules based on Labor Calculators and employee availability
- Schedule should balance labor cost with customer service
- Absence policy should be enforced to reduce the risk of uncovered shifts
- General Managers should be developed with the expectation that they are responsible to ensure all shifts will be covered on their schedule. When the general manager needs the area manager to cover a shift to avoid the store shutting down, ownership should be notified, and recurrences will lead to disciplinary action to the GM for not enforcing a functioning policy to prevent excessive call outs or developing a cross-trained team to avoid such issues. The Area manager is responsible for ensuring this policy is enforced.
