THE PRIZE PORTRAIT.

Mr. Philip de Laszlo, who is usually busy painting Royalty, has just painted a portrait of one of the members of the Hippodrome chorus, Miss Adeline Walker [13294]. The sitter, it seems, won a prize at a costume ball, which entitled her to be painted by the famous artist. De Laszlo began to draw at five years of age, and decided to be an artist at ten.

As a boy he made scale models of scenery at the National Theatre, Budapest, and earned 9s. a month at the job.
