Contact Hours:  45 (can be 60 or 75 depending on the needs of the student)

Semester Credits/Quarter Units: 3 / 4 (or up to 5 credits)

Pre-requisites: Beginner Spanish I        

Course Description:

The Beginner II Spanish program focuses on developing communicative skills through study, both oral and written communication, and understanding of Spanish as a second language. The student will build upon the foundation of the present tense. The student will begin to conjugate regular and irregular verbs in the past tense. The student will increase vocabulary, read more complex stories, and create and execute medium-length oral presentations. They will be able to ask and answer more complex questions. The student will keep a daily journal about their activities, excursions, and cultural experiences in Costa Rica.  

Course Objectives:

The program is organized so that the students can acquire a holistic foundation of knowledge based on four areas: listening, speaking, reading and writing—putting each of these in practice in any place or situation. Upon completion of the Spanish as a second language course, the student should accomplish the following objectives:
