Weighted Benefit Analysis
Criteria:
Cost:
Reason for criteria:
We have a max budget of $20 and want to limit ourselves to a low budget design. This is for our project and for the users we are designing for since our persona is a hipster who does not wish to spend a lot of money on products.
Weight: 6
How we decided on weight of criteria:
We chose to weight cost as a 6 because it has a medium level of importance to our design.
Lightweight:
Reason for criteria:
We chose this criteria because of the nature of our design challenge. The users need to be comfortable traveling around the market with a bag that does not weigh them down.
Weight: 5
How we decided on weight of criteria:
We weighted lightweight as relatively important because it is nice for our users to be comfortable but it is not our highest priority.
Resilience:
Reason for criteria:
This criteria comes from wanting the product to be durable and strong enough to withstand all types of weather or wear and tear throughout its lifetime.
Weight: 8
How we decided on weight of criteria:
This criteria is especially important because we want our users to believe in the quality and durability of our product. We do not want complaints over it falling apart or not working as they expected.
Appearance:
Reason for criteria:
This criteria was chosen due to our target audience. Our persona is based off of hipsters and they are very serious about fashion and appearance.
Weight: 3
How we decided on weight of criteria:
Our team decided to assign little importance to this criteria because it does not interfere with the usability of the product. This criteria was assigned to satisfy our persona, but we do not want to place extreme importance on this aspect.
Protection from weather:
Reason for criteria:
This is one of the main problems we observed users facing and so we ensured that we included it into our design challenge. It was then inputted into our design criteria to make sure we accounted for it while brainstorming.
Weight: 9
How we decided on weight of criteria:
This aspect of our design is most reflective of the needs of the users at the Hillcrest market. For this reason it is one of the most important design aspects.
Hands Free:
Reason for criteria:
This is important for our users since they are at a farmer’s market, socializing. We do not want them to be limited to what they can do while interacting with our product, we solely wish to complement their market experience.
Weight: 10
How we decided on weight of criteria:
This aspect of our design is essentially the most important part since we wish to add to their experience at the market and make it easier and more convenient for them.
