Mach 30 #EngineerSpeak Hangout Aug 13, 2015
Discussion Topic: Sprint 2 Stand Up 3
Attending: J, Aaron, Jeremy,
Start: 2210 Eastern
End: 2255 Eastern
Summary:
Halfway through the sprint, making solid progress. Ran into one complication with IPython and PDF export. Will address in a later sprint.
Minutes:
- Did - Much research on the embedding values in MarkDown cells not showing up in exported PDF issue; full details in the forums; been thinking about this, does this really mean we need a new PBI, because what we thought would just work is really a missing feature/tech debt in IPython/Jupiter? If so, does that just go on the backlog for now and we deal with it later, then press on with this sprint’s work?
- Will do - Probably commit my Test Case 3 notebook and work on creating Test Case 1 notebook (note, I will be on travel, so I will likely miss next week’s stand up, but will post my info to the forums)
- Blocks? - depends on how one interprets the situation with embedding values not showing up in exported PDFs; since we are counting the PDF export as tech debt, no blocks
- Did - Partially compiled the list of materials; having issues finding material properties for some of the options (for example some values for PLA);
- J - are these values for 3D printed components? Or general values for the material
- Aaron - these values are from Stratasys; but they are not always clear about what they tested; notes there is lots of variance from printer to printer and run to run; suspects they may be generic material properties
- J - it would be interesting to compare these values to the NAFEMS paper results testing 3D printed ABS
- Aaron - agreed; also have some additional values (optimal temps, costs, other notes, etc); also upgrading in house 3D printer for greater range of supported materials
- Will do - continue with data capture/documentation; verifying data; add citations (goal is to have at least 2 primary sources)
- Blocks? - none
- Did - continued working on the MTK installer, specifically moving to a global installation location; seems to be working, still need to modify the config.js file to include the MTK required extensions
- Will do - continue with the installer, in particular getting the required extensions pre-loaded in MTK notebooks
- Blocks? - none

- Blocks? -
- <quick review, many PBIs are dones or 50%+>
- J - looks like we will do pretty well (might not get all PBIs, but looking like we will be close)
- Aaron - by fortune, making a little bit of progress on YVN-17 as part of work on on YVN-15
