Writing Prompts for the Week of April 25th
You receive a phone call from your two best friends. “Hey, we’ve done something terribly wrong and need your help. We can’t talk about it over the phone. Please meet us at the spot where we talked about a couple of weeks ago. You grab your jacket and head out, but on your way a lot of thoughts are crossing your mind (write a minimum of one page about what happens next). I will read and check these off today!
Tuesday, April 26th (May Day is Sunday)
The tradition of celebrating May Day by dancing and singing around a maypole, tied with colorful streamers or ribbons has survived for nearly two thousand years is and is kind of tied to Halloween. The kids celebrating the day by moving back and forth around the pole with streamers, choosing of May queen, and hanging of May baskets on the doorknobs of folks -- are all the leftovers of old European traditions.
Do you think we should still honor these ancient human traditions? Why or why not? Would it be fun to celebrate May Day here at our school?
Wednesday April 27th
You’ve been writing a blog for a number of months now without issue, then suddenly you’re confronted with an anonymous commenter who posts unwarranted slams against you. You head to the house ready to pick a fight—but when you knock on the door, the person who answers is someone you know. Write this scene.
