‘together we are stronger’

Two thirds of the year have passed and there has been a tremendous amount of learning that has taken place and not just in the classroom!  The Sea Sanctuary Garden is near completion and is an example of how staff, children and parents, when working together, can achieve great things.  The recent warm weather is the start of a time when ALL can enjoy this special space.

I would like to formally thank the staff team at Bacton for their efforts this year, so far - they work incredibly hard for your children and are passionate about helping every child ‘be their best’.

Happy Easter

What’s happened this week ?

Recreating The Great Fire of London

Over the previous two weeks the children in Seahorse class have been making Tudor houses for their project homework. On Tuesday they took their houses onto the field to recreate Pudding Lane - the source of the Great Fire of London. The children watched from a safe distance while the flames licked and spread between the buildings until we were left with only ash.

Sparkle Theatre!      Puppets, Finger, Bear, Lion, ...

On Friday 17th March, 8 children from MJS and BPS went with the Family Support Team to visit the West Runton Toy Shop and Puppet Theatre as part of the Sparkle Project funded by Children in Need and run by a lady called Karen Crane. They had great fun making up their own stories using the hundreds of puppets Karen has and performing it in the puppet theatre. Not only this, they also had the chance to film their shows using professional cameras and recording equipment. They were fantastic performers and really enjoyed themselves. We will be returning for more fun another day!

More things to remember

Our third Mathemagician Event coming soon!

Theme: Division

Tuesday 16th May @9:05-11:15 Parents welcomed into school to see the strategies used for division and join your child in class. The last one which took place yesterday morning and focused on multiplication was very positively received. The making a counting stick workshop session seemed to go down particularly well.

The whole school population become gardeners!

Keep watering checking the seeds and watering regularly in preparation for bringing the seedlings back to school during the week beginning 24th April.

A huge thank you for supporting our Red Nose come in disguise day on Friday 24th March. We raised £65.00 for the charity and had lots of fun along the way.

Another huge thank you for supporting us with our rescheduled World Book Day sponsored read which took place on Thursday 9th March. You helped raise a total of £157.50 which is fantastic. This will be used to purchased new reading resources.

We’ve had a few reported cases of headlice. Please check your child’s head and treat as necessary.

Miss Peck and Mr Hopkins will be running Easter Booster school on the first Monday and Tuesday of the Easter Holiday. Sessions will take place between 9:00-12:00 and all year 6 children have brought letters home requesting consent. The sessions will focus on maths, reading and SPAG (spelling, punctuation and grammar) and is additional support for them to achieve age related expectations in the year 6 SAT tests. When we return from the Easter break there will be just 13 school days for further revision until the tests begin.

Snacks at break time and lunch just before the sessions finish will be provided free of charge. We hope your year 6 child is able to join us for the sessions which were very popular and well attended last year.
