Mahatma Gandhi used non-violent protest to oppose racial discrimination in South Africa and India. Through a lifetime of struggle and sacrifice Gandhi was able to spread the message of equality and freedom throughout India. Eventually leading to India’s independence from Great Britain.  Listen to the short biography of Mahatma and give a short synopsis on the life of Gandhi.

“All appropriate measures shall be taken to ensure the principle of equality of status of the husband and wife, and in particular:” 

(1) Women shall have the same right as men to free choice of a spouse and to enter into marriage only with their free and full consent; (2) Women shall have equal rights with men during marriage and at its dissolution. In all cases the interest of the children shall be paramount; (3) Parents shall have equal rights and duties in matters relating to their children.
