Learning Intention: WALT write a recount. Success criteria: I know that a recount has an introduction, body and conclusion. I know that in the introduction, we use a hook. I know that in the body, we use sequencing words. I know that in the conclusion, we write about how we felt and what we hope for.
Read the recount below and identify key features. Super 50th Celebration! HONK! Brightly coloured party horns were blown everywhere! Rainbow streamers flew here and there as people cheered and clapped! Do you know why? On Friday the 5th of May, Elm Park School went into their school auditorium to celebrate their 50th Jubilee. We had a huge celebration with all the students, teachers and parents because Elm Park School is turning 50 this year.
First of all, every class sat and buzzed with excitement in the auditorium. Everyone was wearing their party clothes and party hats they made in class. Then, Mrs. Allen greeted all the whanau who came to celebrate with us. After that, the teachers all played party games like musical chairs, limbo and also a hoop throwing game. My favourite game was the limbo, because Mr. Walker zoomed underneath the bar with a skateboard. Next, we sang happy birthday to the school, and Mrs.Plowright blew out the candle on the cake. Lastly, the year 3 and 4 classes got into their houses, and played party games with different teachers. I especially loved the chocolate game, because I watched my friends get dressed up in silly costumes. Plus I got to eat loads of chocolate!
In conclusion, it was a memorable day, because it’s not everyday that a school turns 50! I hope that we get to play more party games later on in the year because we will be celebrating all year long!
