Guidelines

Social Media is a communication tool that can have a significant impact on your personal reputation, as well as the reputation of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School.  The following agreement must be signed by yourself and your parent/guardian, acknowledging the responsibility of social networking use and the expectations.  These are not limited to just social media use, but also all that is listed in the Acceptable Use Policy.

• Honesty - be authentic in your posts and communication on social media.  Do not create false accounts or plagiarize.
• Privacy - when posting on the Internet, all is made public.  Your reputation and that of other can be affected based on what you post.  If you question whether or not something should be posted please consult your parent/guardian and teachers.
• Rule - know the rules, not only established by your teacher for the particular assignment, but also all that is listed under the school’s Acceptable Use Policy.
• Cyberbullying will not be tolerated - it is the willful and repeatedly bullying or harassment of another person or persons’ through the medium of social media.  Consequences for such actions are stated in the Student/Parent Handbook.
• Code of Ethics - understand the policies of the school and social media sites and networks you are participating in.
• Be Responsible - what you create online is permanent and can be viewed by potential colleges and employers.
