2016 Executive Committee
The time of Paryushan gives us a special opportunity to reflect upon the past year and our behaviors to ourselves and to others.
It is an opportunity that we, as Jains, set aside to seek forgiveness from those, to whom we may have caused harm. And equally important, to find the strength to forgive those, who may have harmed us.
We take this opportunity, and on this very auspicious occasion, to say that if we have hurt you, knowingly or unknowingly, we sincerely ask for your forgiveness …
On behalf of the entire JSCNC Committee …
खामेमि सव्व जीवे, सव्वे जीवा खमंतु मे।
मित्ती मे सव्व-भूएसु, वेरं मज्झ न केणइ।।

Paryushan Maha Parva - 2016
Jain Study Center of North Carolina observed Paryushan from Aug 27 - Sep 3. The occasion included Puja on the first and last days, mixed in with a Bhavana and finally Samvatsari on Saturday. Thanks to Arvindbhai and Arunaben Shah, many of us took the advantage of doing daily Pratikramans at their house. And thanks also to Maheshbhai and Induben Varia for hosting the Samvatsari Pratikraman on Saturday to a packed house.
Also, many thanks to our singers and musicians at the Puja and Bhavna. Mr. Arvindbhai Shah, Mr. Mayurbhai Lodaya, Mr. Dilipbhai Shah and Mr. Harshadbhai Shah, did a splendid job at leading many stavans and dhuns.
Finally, a huge recognition to Mrs. Rima Shah for completing her tap of navai (9 days).
And thanks to Harshadbhai Shah, some memorable moments from several days of this event:

Weekly Mahavir Puja
Every Saturday, a Mahavir Puja is performed at the Hindu Temple. Volunteers sign up to perform this Puja, and are assigned specific Saturdays.
The Puja is very simple and takes less than one hour. It is a great way to teach and prepare children with this important ritual, so that they find confidence in performing it during daily routine, special occasions or even pilgrimages in India. Children will learn how to perform the kesar Puja and all aspects of Asht prakari Puja.
Mrs. Rekha Banker, who coordinates weekly Puja, will be happy to demonstrate in person, and has several books with illustrations to help. If you are interested, please contact her at email@example.com or at (919) 676-4548.
Please visit http://www.jscnc.org and click Events. The calendar has the most up-to-date listing of all confirmed activities for the year. All the tithis (Lunar Days) are also posted on the online calendar. Here is a list of some key dates:
