JCP Birthday Book Wish List

Optional Book Donation

In an effort to model the value of giving for our children, and as a means for promoting the value of reading, JCP ECC has established the birthday book donation program. Participation in the program is optional and is connected to birthdays as a means of linking gratefulness at a time of celebration.

When it is your child’s birthday, he or she can bring a donated book into class with the JCP self adhesive bookplate in place (you can ask for one at the Welcome Desk). The book can be presented to the class by your child. It is important for your child to be involved in the actual act of presenting the book so that he or she can make the direct connection of giving. At the end of the year, the book goes into our school library collection.

Our classrooms have different procedures for celebrating birthdays in school. Our Bridge classes do not include in-class birthday celebrations. In all cases books can still be donated near the time of your child’s birthday. Your child’s teachers will find an appropriate format for acknowledgment.

The following is a list with books that we would like to add to our library, either because it is new and noteworthy, a teacher has requested it, or we need a replacement copy. If a book on the list is out of print, we do accept and welcome gently used copies ordered online. Often out of print books are some of the very best! Please email Associate Director, Wendy Gelsanliter wendy@jcpdowntown.org with the books you have chosen so that she can keep this list up to date.

We appreciate your donations and are glad to be partners with you in promoting these values for our children.
