A: From your Members Home, click on Edit Profile and change any information that needs to be updated.  Click on the "About Me", "About My Match", and "Essays" to change the different sections of your profile, and make sure to hit SAVE at the bottom before going to a new section.  PLEASE NOTE: Changing this information will change your matching criteria and it will update the next time you log in.

 

Q: What does my Account Status mean?

 A: Your Profile can be one of 3 statuses:

Q: What is the about me section of my profile?

A: This short personality profile gives us an insight to how you think and understand situations.  It helps us find who you truly will be compatible with on a long term basis.  It lets us narrow the field to people you will complement, and who will complement you as well. Its really what sets up apart from everyone else.


Q: What Exactly is on my member home page?

A: Your member home page is your everthing at a glance page for Gay Dating Solutions.  It comprises of 6 basic blocks (see below) that can direct you to anywhere you want to go on the site.

  1. Profile Info (top left of your page)- This has your profile name, picture, and subscription at a glance.
  2. GDS Dashboard (center of your page)-  This is a quick link box with the following jumps to pages:
  1. Basic matches
  2. Preferred matches
  3. Mailbox (any new messages will show here as well)
  4. Blocked members (anyone who you told GDS to not allow to see your profile)
  5. New members (shows all the new members who have joined recently)
  6. Groups (ones that you are active in as well as ones your created)
  7. Bookmarks (if you saved a page on the site, or a person’s profile it will show here)
  8. Neighbors (anyone within a 25 mile radius of your zip code displays here)
  9. Viewed you (anyone who has looked at your profile)
  1. Invite Area- you can invite your friends by email or from the facebook integration button we have provided for you
  2. Status Area- lets you know what your status is with Gay Dating Solutions (see the Status FAQ above for more on this)
  3. Quick Search- Allows you to search based on age only.  Please use the advanced search for more complete search results.
  4. Profile Options- This allows you to edit your profile or add another photo quickly.

Q: What is the difference between a basic and preferred match?

 A: A basic match is another member who meets enough of your interests and physical descriptions that we think they would be a good person for you to meet.  A Preferred Match is another member who not only matches your interests and physical description, but is also has a compatible response with your Personality Profile as well.  This creates a higher level match that we think would be the best for you!

 

Q: Where can I find these Basic Matches and Preferred Matches?

 A: start in your Member Home and click on My Matches.  You are dropped into your Basic Matches by default, and by clicking the Preferred Matches button, you can see who matches your personality type.

 

Q: I don't have any matches,  what did I do wrong?

 A: Our matching algorithm pulls your information from both the questionnaires and the Personality Survey.  If you have not completed ALL of these items (The "About Me",  "About My Match", and "Essays" of Your Profile and the Personality Survey)  then you will not see matches.  Please keep in mind the more information you tell us, the better we can match you with another member.

 

Q: How can I find someone near me who is not a match (The Advanced Search)?

 A: There are two ways you can find people near you:  First, You can go to Search on the top menu, and set the criteria to exactly what you want (Narrow the area by locating the "Location" area of the search form). The second is by clicking on the My Neighbors icon on your Member Home Screen, where you can use the buttons for Zip, City, or State to broaden or narrow your search.

 

Q: Can I send an e-mail directly to Dr. Page?

 A: You can send an email to Dr. Page by by Clicking Here or by hitting the link on her Bio on the left side of your screen.  You can always send her a message inside Gay Dating Solutions from your Members Home Page.

 

Q: If our system works, why do we offer a one year membership?

 A: We offer a one year membership because after you find your perfect match here at Gay Dating Solutions, there is no telling how many more great friends you can meet along the way.  Also, we are developing an events network to help broaden your network that will be exclusive to our members.

Q: What does the detect button mean beside the zip code field (When signing up)?

A: When you put in your zip code and hit detect, our database will automatically find what city and state you live in for you.  It’s our way of speeding up your sign in process for you so you don’t have to fill out extra fields.

Q: Do I really need a profile picture?

A: You don’t always need a profile picture, but studies have shown that having one does increase your chances of meeting someone.

Q: How can I add a profile picture?

A: Follows these simple steps to add a new profile picture:

  1. Log into your account and click on the default image below your username
  2. Click on one of the thumbnail icons on the right side of your screen.
  3. Click on Choose File (grey button that appears) and select the image from your computer

Q: How do I change my membership?

A: Start by clicking the subscribe button at the top of your menu bar.  From here you can choose from our various lengths of memberships.  Please keep in mind the longer the membership duration, the greater the savings to you!

Q: How do I cancel my profile?

A: First, we are sad to see you go, but if you feel this is the best option for you, there is an “Unsubscribe” button at the bottom of any page on our site.  This will cancel your membership, but please know that any payments that you have made will not be refunded, or prorated for partial use ofyour subscription.

Q: What is in my preferences?

A: My Preferences allows you to configure how you want your specific Gay Dating Membership to function.  Options include the following

  1. My profile (can people send messages, activity, and private statuses)
  2. Mailbox Function (notifications)
  3. Match filtering (based on pictures and location)
  4. Unsubscribe from mailings
  5. Friends (activity options)
