Policy and arrangements for admissions 1
At Sunningdale we do not have an entry test. We do not believe in passing or failing boys aged 7 or 8. The process is very simple.
Below is a brief outline for what prospective parents can expect during the admissions process at Sunningdale. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the admissions department on 01344 620159, or via email at admissions@sunningdaleschool.co.uk .
Families start by requesting a prospectus from our admissions department either via the website request form or by telephone on 01344 620159. These will be sent together with a registration form.
To really capture the essence of Sunningdale it is best to come and visit the school and meet the Headmaster and Deputy who will personally show you around. Please call the admissions department to arrange a visit and come explore the grounds, meet the pupils and the team behind the school.
There are two Open Mornings each year. This is a chance for parents to see the school in action. Groups of parents will be shown round by boys. The Open Mornings begin at 10.30am and end at 12.30pm.
A parent may register their son at Sunningdale School from birth and are asked to return their completed registration form with the £75 Registration Fee. We have, on average, 22 places available each year. If all 22 places are taken for the year you require, your son will be placed on a waiting list. You will be kept informed as to the likelihood of him being offered a guaranteed place. As well as this, your details will be added to our mailing list to receive the Sunningdale School newsletter and invitations to prospective family events. Please feel free to come and visit the school whenever you like.
During the academic year before a boy is due to start, we will ask his previous school for a reference. We will ask for details of his academic and extra curricular interests and abilities and we will also ask about contribution to school life.
Once we have met the boy and received the reference from his previous school, we will be in a position to offer a place.
An acceptance form will be sent out for you to sign and we will ask for a £750 deposit. Once we receive the form and deposit your sons place will be confirmed. The deposit will be deducted from the final bill.
Owing to the high demand for places in this age group, we have introduced an assessment for potential boys wishing to join. The boys will need to sit computerised assessment tests. A report will be requested from their previous school. Both academic and extra-curricular strengths will be taken in account when places are offered.
Sunningdale is not academically selective. We are looking for boys who will contribute positively to the life of the school in various different ways. We do need, though, to make sure that potential pupils will be able to cope academically, irrespective of any special educational needs or disability they may have.
The School reserves the right to deny entry to any boy who we feel will not thrive here or who will disrupt the education and wellbeing of other pupils. It may be a that a prospective pupil’s behaviour, as evidenced by the confidential report or by observation during the visit or for another reason as determined by the School.
