‘Preparing each child for their future in an ever-changing world’
CARE - COURAGE - RESPECT - RESPONSIBILITY
20th February 2017
Welcome back we hope you have all had a restful holiday.
We have enclosed details of the topics and work we will be covering during term 4 with the children. Our Topic this term is Canada.
Please ensure your child has a full, named PE kit, which should stay on their peg all week.
Named water bottles can be kept in the classroom to keep children hydrated during the day. Please could these have a sports cap to reduce spillages and contain plain water only. Children have access to fountains during break and lunch.
We will continue to listen to the children read during Guided Reading, where we can focus on the skills of reading including comprehension and inference. Children will also be heard 1:1 with us and other adults. Please carry on listening to your child read at home, every day if possible. As children become more fluent readers it is important that they read a variety of texts; this doesn’t have to be a school reading book, but needs to be recorded in their reading records.
Children will continue to have daily phonics and spelling sessions which focus on both the reading and writing of words.
Homework will continue to be set on a Friday to be completed and returned for the following Friday. Please support your children to complete these tasks.
Once again we welcome and appreciate help within the classroom. Please come and see us if you have any time or skills to offer.
If you need to see us for any reason please pop in to arrange an appointment. We often have more time to talk at the end of the day.
We are looking forward to another hardworking and happy term.
Many thanks for your support.
