Dice Masters Online Player

Code of Conduct

When playing online, you as a player will be expected to conduct yourself at a certain level of appropriateness during our games.  This Dice Masters Online Player Code of Conduct sets out the standards that you will be expected to comply with when playing other players or discussing in the associated Discord server. All rules apply to both situations unless otherwise stated.  If you are unable to comply with these standards, you may not be considered for Community organized events and/or you may be banned from the associated Discord server.

I (The Player) agree to the following:

  • I will conduct myself in a polite and courteous manner, just as I would in person.
  • I will not use any hate speech, non-consensual slurs, epithets, or otherwise directly attack someone’s character on the basis of who they are. This can be a vague area, but generally, if you have to ask yourself “could someone see this as hate speech,” maybe don’t say it.
  • I will not discuss politics beyond a “referencing current events” level. Heated and/or in depth discussions of politics and/or political beliefs do not belong on this server or in online play.
  • Online play and online discussion come with a few unique challenges -- I will be as gracious and forgiving as reasonably possible.
  • For online play, if I am unable to continue play due to technical details or real life getting in the way, I will notify the TO.
  • For online play, I agree to the format and rules of the online tournament, even if they differ from the official WizKids tournament rules, and submit to the rulings of the tournament organizer and/or whomever is serving as the judge, even if I know I’m right!
  • For online play, If the event asks for WIN usernames, by providing my username I agree to let my results in the tournament be tracked and counted in the WIN system. Otherwise I will fill that field in with “anonymous” to indicate I do not wish to be tracked in WIN for that tournament.
  • For online play, I will be considerate of the fact that we are playing online, and make an effort to keep everything on camera. I will draw from the bag on camera if possible, and make sure my rolling area is visible, and that the dice are rolled on camera.

For the purposes of the above, “hate speech” is a statement or series of statements intended to mock, demean, or attack a person or identifiable group of persons on the basis of one or more of their personal characteristics such as, but not limited to, race and sex. It is not, however, intended to prevent honest discussion. For example, “you nasty (racial slur)” would be hate speech. However, “(country) has a serious crime problem” would generally not be.

In the context where you play with friends online, they may accept that you use terms that would otherwise fit the above definition of “hate speech”. This is why we specify “non-consensual” slurs. Just because one player is ok with it, it doesn’t mean everyone is. Use your common sense, and in doubt, ask the other player what they’re comfortable with.
