LEVERETT  TUTOR-ON-CALL:

2016/17 SCHEDULE  &  RESPONSIBILITIES

617-429-3311

All tutors assigned 1-2 weeks in a year, Mon 6pm-Mon 6pm, to keep the on-call phone.

The number is posted throughout the house, and is the primary Leverett contact with HUPD, UHS, etc.

SCHEDULE

- Planning: please check on-call schedule below for your on-call week/s.

- Swapping: please work directly with the tutor you want to swap with. Once swap is final, email Raj, cc- Bilal, Chief, Coach, and the tutor you are swapping with to confirm. Note: certain weeks, as indicated below, can only be swapped with experienced tutors. Also, in the past, some tutors have swapped other house responsibilities for on-call duties, e.g. taken on someone’s Stein Club shifts through the year in return for swapping an on-call week.

- Responsibilities: key on-call responsibilities are listed under the schedule below

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Before

Hand-off: On Sunday, please contact the current on-call tutor, and make arrangements to get phone, charger, binder by 6pm on Monday (or whatever time suits both tutors).

Review: Go through on-call binder. Review response-guidelines for key scenarios + process of opening guard’s office and accessing master keys. If unsure about anything, discuss with experienced tutors or ABAD. Test phone’s ringer to ensure it is on and loud enough for you. Discuss any on-going issues with previous on-call tutor.

During

PHONE

The phone must be on at all times, and the on-call tutor must attend to all calls, at any time.

PRESENCE

Weekday days: remain within ~1 hour of Leverett at all times. In case the situation requires campus-presence and you are not close, rely on others including Paul, fellow tutors or ABAD (depending on the situation that needs handling).

Sat/Sun, 8am-4pm, remain 5-10 mins from Leverett (because there is no guard on duty for lock-outs)

Sat/Sun, 4pm onwards, remain ~15 mins from Leverett.

Nights (esp. Fri/Sat/Sun nights after 10pm): remain in Leverett.

PARTY-PROCTORING/ ROUNDS

Parties: Confirm locations, student names/emails, and phone numbers of students with registered parties via Kim’s Friday email. Email hosts to let them know you’ll be dropping by during the party.

Rounds: Please conduct rounds of the house, at 11pm and 2am on Friday and Saturday nights. During rounds, check in on registered parties, and do quick check-in of all entryways and common rooms esp. Rabbit Hole (with security guard, if you prefer).

RESPONSE

On-call tutors will mostly have to deal with lock-outs when there is no guard (8am-4pm on weekends). Less frequently, you may have to go check on a student at HUHS or Mt. Auburn, control a registered party, or break up an unregistered party. In some cases (serious Mt Auburn hospitalizations), ABAD will accompany you. Details about common situations and tips for dealing with them are in the on-call binder.

COMMUNICATION

Please keep ABAD informed of updates (via email, text, or phone, depending on the seriousness of the situation). Please update the log in the on-call binder for every call.

After

Hand-off: on Sunday, contact the on-call tutor for the following week, and make arrangements to give phone, charger, binder by 6pm on Monday (or whatever time suits both tutors). Make sure to share information about ongoing situations.
