THE AMERICAN FEDERATION OF ARTS

BARR BUILDING, FARRAGUT SQUARE, WASHINGTON, D.C.

Mr. Philip A. de Laszlo,

3 Fitzjohns Avenue,

London, N.W.3, England.

January 31, 1933.

Dear Mr. de Laszlo:

I was delighted to receive your letter. Thank you for it and for the copy of the Illustrated London News with the reproduction of your fine painting.

Mr. Robert B. Harshe, Director of the Art Institute of Chicago, is in charge of assembling the exhibition to be held in connection with the Century of Progress Exposition next summer. It will be in the Art Institute of Chicago rather than in a separate building; and, I am told, very fine.

I have written Mr. Harshe in regard to the possibility of securing your portrait: “Mr. and Mrs. Larz Anderson,” [2589] and if he has not already disposed of all his available space, I am sure he will be glad to avail himself of the opportunity.

The Larz Anderson house seems to be closed at present, so I suppose they are traveling or in the south. We have had a lovely winter and before long now spring will be here.

With kindest regards and best wishes, believe

Sincerely yours,

Leila Mechlin
