L.I:         Learn how to read the first of three Japanese writing systems, hiragana

Instructions

1. Practise saying the syllables.
2. Look at the hiragana chart to practise reading.
3. Write in the Japanese for the objects

Game: Janken tug-of-war

• Group into teams
• Two teams face against each other
• One member each goes down the line of hiragana from opposite ends, reading each as they go.
• When they meet, they play Janken to see who goes out. The team with the player going out has the next member start reading from the beginning.
• When a player reaches the opposite side, they get a point for their team.
