Educational leave, including conventions, meetings and seminars, may be given to employees to accomplish job-related educational pursuits or objectives.  Such leave must fall under the guidelines of the Library’s Employee Training Plan.

Policy’s Procedural Implementation

Employees desiring educational leave (in addition to educational leave initiated by the Library) should contact the Director by phone or e-mail.  The employee should be able to explain how the educational leave supports their current job description or advances their qualifications for other library positions.  The Director will advise via e-mail if the leave request is granted and under what conditions.

If the leave request is not supported by the Library’s Training Policy the Director will be required to modify the Training Policy before the leave can be approved.

Under no circumstances are employees to register for workshops prior to the Director’s approval of educational leave for the event.
