New Dawn Malinois Rescue is committed to responsible, welfare-led rehoming. Every dog is placed according to their individual needs, history and long-term wellbeing.
• Decisions are made based on veterinary and behavioural assessment.
• Each dog is matched to a home suited to their temperament, drive and requirements.
• We prioritise long-term stability over speed of placement.
We adopt within the United Kingdom only.
Due to the nature of the breed, experience with high-drive or working breeds is strongly preferred. First-time dog owners may be considered in exceptional circumstances where they can demonstrate a clear understanding of the breed’s needs and a robust support and training plan. Placements are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
All resident dogs must be neutered (unless medically exempt).
Applicants must:
• Demonstrate understanding of the breed’s exercise and training requirements.
• Have appropriate management plans in place.
• Have all adult household members in agreement.
• Provide landlord consent where applicable.
• Consent to a home check.
We reserve the right to decline any application if we believe the home is not appropriate for the individual dog.
Applications are assessed based on suitability for the individual dog. Placements are not made on a first come, first served basis. Our priority is securing the most appropriate long-term home.
Due to the potential for same-sex conflict in high-drive working dogs, we generally avoid placing a female dog into a home with an existing female dog. Exceptions may be considered at the discretion of the Rescue following careful assessment.
Placements in homes with children are considered on a case-by-case basis. As a general guideline, we do not routinely place dogs in homes with children under the age of 10 years. All interactions between dogs and children must be appropriately supervised.
Dogs may be placed in flats or apartments where applicants can demonstrate that the dog’s physical and mental needs will be fully met through structured exercise, training and management. Property type alone does not determine suitability.
A secure outdoor space is strongly preferred. Where fencing is not fully secure, the dog must be appropriately supervised at all times and never left unattended in the garden. Suitability will be assessed based on the individual dog and management plan.
Belgian Malinois are high-drive, intelligent working dogs requiring significant physical exercise, mental stimulation and structured management. Lack of appropriate engagement may result in behavioural issues.
1. Completion of a detailed Adoption Application Form.
2. Verification of identity (photo ID and proof of address).
3. Provision of two references (including veterinary reference where applicable).
4. Landlord consent verification (if renting).
5. Home check conducted (virtual or in person).
6. Meet-and-greet arranged where appropriate.
7. Adoption fee paid in full.
8. Adoption contract signed.
No dog will leave our care without payment cleared and contract signed, unless placed under an agreed Trial Adoption arrangement.
Applicants are expected to provide accurate and complete information. False, misleading or withheld information may result in rejection, cancellation of adoption, or reclaim of the dog.
Trial adoptions may be offered at the discretion of the Rescue for up to 4 weeks. The adoption fee must be paid in full by the end of week 4. No extensions will be granted. Either party may terminate the trial at any time. During trial, the dog remains the property of the Rescue. Veterinary care during trial remains the responsibility of the Rescue unless otherwise agreed in writing.
All dogs must be neutered unless medically contraindicated. Where adopted prior to neutering, adopters must complete neutering within the timeframe specified and provide veterinary confirmation.
Upon completion of adoption, the adopter assumes sole legal and financial responsibility for the dog. All ongoing veterinary care, behavioural management and welfare become the adopter’s responsibility.
If at any time the adopter cannot keep the dog, the dog must be returned to New Dawn Malinois Rescue.
New Dawn Malinois Rescue reserves the explicit right to request the immediate return of any dog where there is reasonable evidence of neglect, abuse, failure to provide appropriate veterinary care, breach of the adoption agreement, failure to comply with neutering requirements, or significant welfare concerns affecting the dog’s physical or behavioural wellbeing.
Adopters agree to cooperate fully with reasonable welfare enquiries. Failure to comply with this agreement may result in the Rescue pursuing recovery of the dog through appropriate legal channels.
Microchip details will be transferred upon completion of adoption. Adopters must ensure their details remain current with the microchip database.
The Rescue provides full disclosure of known medical and behavioural history at the time of adoption. Behaviour may change in a new environment, and future behaviour cannot be guaranteed.
Updates are welcomed and encouraged but are not mandatory once ownership has transferred.
All medical decisions while in rescue care are made following veterinary advice and with welfare as the sole priority.
