How It Works

  • The default lending period is 21 days.
  • After the lending period, the audiobook will simply expire from your device.
  • No fines, no fees.
  • If an audiobook is checked out, you may request to be placed in the holds queue (see “Placing Holds”).
  • Books may be renewed twice (provided others aren’t waiting in line).
  • 10 OverDrive checkouts / 12 OverDrive holds (includes both eBooks and audiobooks).

You Will Need

Setup

Checkout

  1. Visit our OverDrive collection.
  2. Sign in with your library card number and PIN (upper-right).
  3. Select a book (using either the Browse or Search feature).
  4. Click on Borrow. You may also reserve the book by choosing, Place a Hold (see “Placing Holds”).
  5. To read the book in your browser (for available books only), select Read next to a book on your bookshelf, otherwise, click on Download (EPUB or PDF).
  6.  Find and open the file.
  7. Adobe Digital Editions will launch and the eBook will begin downloading.

Transfer Using Adobe Digital Editions

  1. Open Adobe Digital Editions.
  2. Drag and drop the book cover (right) to the Nook icon (left) until a green plus sign appears.

Placing Holds

  1. Click Place a Hold.
  2. You will receive an email from donotereply@overdrive.com when your audiobook is available.
  3. You will then have three days to check out or borrow the audiobook.
  4. Follow the link from your email to get to your Holds list.
  5. Click the Borrow button to check out the book.

Returning eBooks Early

  1. Open Adobe Digital Editions, and go to your Library.
  2. Select Borrowed beneath Bookshelves.
  3. Left click on the book you’d like to return and select Return Borrowed Item (return early) or Remove (removes from Library but is still checked out).

Setup

  1. Install Adobe Digital Editions for Mac.
  2. Authorize your computer with an Adobe ID. If you already have one, choose Sign In, enter your Adobe ID and tap Authorize. If not, choose Register at Adobe.com and follow the steps to create an Adobe ID.

Checkout Using Your Computer

  1. On your computer, launch your browser and navigate to the library’s Axis 360 collection.
  2. To get books, select an EPUB or PDF eBook (using either the Browse or Search feature).
  3. To check out the book, select Checkout Now (ensure that either the EPUB or PDF format is highlighted blue). You may also reserve the book by tapping, Place on Hold (see “Placing Holds”).
  4. Enter login information (email and password) created above in “Setup” (Step 4).
  5. Checkout is successful if you see a due date below the book cover.

Transfer to eReader Using Adobe Digital Editions

  1. Open Adobe Digital Editions.
  2. Plug your eReader into your computer using the device’s USB cable.
  3. Drag and drop the book cover (right) to the eReader icon (left) until a green plus sign appears.
  4. Safely eject your device.

Placing Holds AXIS

  1. Tap Place on Hold.
  2. You will receive an email when your eBook is available. You have 72 hours, once you receive the email, to check out your holds item.
  3. Go to the link provided in the email and proceed to checkout the item.
