Dear Sir,

We beg to acknowledge your letter of the 28th instant,[1] and also the cheque which you enclose as a commission of the portrait of Mrs. Wadia [10061], for which please accept our very best thanks.

Owing to a clerical error we were given to understand that we had only received one commission since the termination of your last exhibition.[2] We find that the statement in your letter regarding this is perfectly correct, and we would express to you our regrets at our mistake.

We are, dear Sir, | Yours faithfully,

Wallis & Son
