Lesson 19 (Part 1)

The children will tell ways they can help care for god’s creation.

What does each object needs?

 

  1. Discuss God’s creation with the children.
  2. Have the children look at the mural they have helped create.
  3. Tell the children that god gave us all these wonderful things for us, but we need to take care of them.
  4. Give each child a recycle juice cup.
  5. Have the children paint grass around the bottom of the cup.
  6. help the children make thumbprints in the grass and add dots with black marker to make ladybugs.
  7. Have the children add soil to their cup and add seeds.
  8. Talk about ways we can take care of our plants and other plants too.
  9. Distribute Activity p. 75.
  10. Have the children point to each picture and tell a story about what they imagine is happening in it.
  11. Ask: What does each need? How can we help? What would happen if we do not help?

Lesson 19 (Part 2)

The children will learn the concept of our stewardship of God’s creation at a developmentally appropriate level 

Can you name ways we can take care of God’s creation? 

  1. Ask the children if they remember what God created for us.
  2. Discuss the story of creation.
  3. Add soda can pictures, trash , paper, and so on, cut from magazines.
  4. Talk how sometimes we do not take care of the wonderful world God has made for us.
  5. Ask the children the following questions: Is this what we should be doing to our world? How can we take care of our world? What would happen to our world if we did not take care of it? What would you do to take care of the world?
  6. Distribute activity p. 76.
  7. Discuss what they see in activity p. 76.
  8. Have the children role-play what they can do to help keep this part beautiful.
  9. Discuss how each child one of them is needed to take care of our world.
  10. Distribute paper plates, sponge, and paint to each child.
  11. Create a “We love Our World” globe.

  1. Have the children sing “Caring for God’s world” found on Read to Me P. 77.
  2. Invite the children to take turns acting out different situations: Show what Tom should do with his empty paper cup? What should they do with the leftovers from from their lunch?What should they do with the newspaper that his father was reading?
  3. Distribute Activity P. 77
  4. Have the children tell a story of what is happening.
  5. Ask the following questions: What is Tom and Lisa doing? Why should they help take care of God’s creation? Do you think is a good idea? Why?

Lesson 19 (Part 3)

The children will make bird feeders out of milk cartons. 

 How can we help the birds find food?

  1. Discuss God’s creation with the children.
  2. Have the children look at the mural they have helped create.
  3. Tell the children that god gave us all these wonderful things for us, but we need to take care of them.
  4. Give each child a milk carton.
  5. Help the children cut the middle of the carton.
  6. Have the children place seeds inside and place them on different areas of the backyard.
  7. Ask : What is this container called? (A bird feeder) Why we help feed the birds? (Because we have cut down their food supply when we cut down the trees and plants) What else can we do to help the birds? (Do not cut down the  trees and plants so that the bird have food to eat and feed their babies.
