Dear Mr. de Laszlo,
Edwina[1] has forwarded your letter to me and I at once wrote a personal letter to the Prince[2] urging him most strongly to visit your exhibition.[3] In addition to this I have followed

the matter up by writing to his Private Secretary, as well, about the matter.[4] Your letter had to be forwarded twice before it reached me, so though you wrote it on the 24th I’ve only just received it, which makes time rather short for the Prince, I fear.
On all hands I hear nothing but praise of the exhibition & I cannot tell you how sorry I am not to have been able to see it.
I think the picture you painted of Edwina [3178] is the best & most lovely one you have ever done & I can never be grateful enough to you for putting her wonderful loveliness on permanent record –

Kind regards to your wife.[5]
Yours sincerely
Dickie Mountbatten
