Request for Proposals
Crooked River Circus is seeking proposals for educational workshops for our vibrant circus community based out of Sokol Greater Cleveland. We are seeking proposals for a variety of circus arts including all aerial apparatus, partner acro, flow arts, prop manipulation, tumbling, flexibility, conditioning, balance disciplines, dance, and more. Proposal Details
Proposals should be for one-time workshops or workshop series of between 2 and 4 sessions. Sessions can be either 60-minutes of 90-minutes in length. Instructors are responsible for leading a warm-up and their workshop content within the selected time frame. Potential instructors are encouraged to provide specifics regarding what you will cover during your workshop, including conditioning, drills, and skill progressions that will be taught. If you have ideas for multiple workshop series, please feel free to submit more than one proposal.
Class Scheduling Options
Sundays between 5:30pm and 7:30pm
Wednesdays between 6:30pm and 8:30pm
You will be able to indicate your date and time preferences in the proposal form.
Facilities and Equipment
Sokol Greater Cleveland, located at 4939 Broadway Ave, offers the following:
Full size gymnastics spring floor
Open gym floor area
A variety of mats, blocks, wedges, etc. (no trampolines, and no foam pit)
Three aerial silks rigged at 22-24’
One rope rigged at 22-24’
One pulley point for lyra, trapeze, hammock, or straps
If you need additional equipment for your workshop, please let us know in your proposal and specify whether you are able to provide the needed equipment for your class.
Instructor Responsibilities and Compensation
If your proposed workshop is selected for our Fall 2024 schedule, Crooked River Circus will provide marketing and take care of student registration and payment. Instructors are encouraged to also market their own classes to increase the number of registrations.
Acceptance of your workshop does not guarantee acceptance of future workshops. Feedback from participants and program administrators, and adherence to program regulations and safety standards will be taken into consideration in the selection of future workshop sessions.
All instructors will be expected to follow safety protocols and standards, provide a positive learning environment, and be open to feedback and additional teacher training/development.
Instructors will be compensated $10 per student per 60-minute class, and $15 per student per 90-minute class.
Instructors will be provided with their class roster in advance. Instructors are responsible for ensuring that only students on their roster attend the class. If your class is not full, you have the option to accept drop-in attendees. The drop-in payment policy will be provided to you if you choose this option.
Please note: Aerial/acrobatic instructors may require additional vetting/training before being selected to teach. If you fall into this category, please still submit a proposal and we will reach out about next steps.
