Dear Students and Parents of Algebra Two Honors,

I hope your fall finals went well and that you are ready to tackle the academic adventures you will encounter in Algebra Two Honors.

Classes for the new semester start on Monday, January 29.  We are going to hit the ground running.

Please come on time that day prepared with:

  1. A medium to large binder filled with lined paper.  (Not a copybook and folder.  This will not work as there are WAY too many handouts for the class.)
  2. Pencils
  3. Graphing Calculator
  4. THE SUMMER PACKET FULLY COMPLETED.

With regard to the summer packet please know the following.

  1. It is not optional.
  2. It almost entirely contains review material.
  3. It will be graded for completeness out of 5 points.  It is due the first day of class and will be penalized for lateness.
  4. We will review it the first two days of class.
  5. You will take a diagnostic assessment on the first Wednesday of class.  From this diagnostic you will be assigned differentiated work that will help you rebuild and practice critical prerequisite skills for the class (I refer to this as remediation work).  The diagnostic will not count toward your grade but the remediation work will count toward your grade.
  6. A few days after the diagnostic (hopefully Friday of the first week), you will take a quiz that is solely based on the material from the summer packet.  It will count toward your grade.

I look forward to working with you this marking period.

It maybe a good idea to get a head start on familiarizing yourself with the layout and materials there.  They will become a large part of your life this marking period.

Thank you,
