“Maggie the Spy”
Olivia B.
One piece of information that could destroy the world, or at least my life, is very weird. Odd even. It’s four words. Some people want to be it. I am a spy. I know Maggie has wanted to be one for a long time, too. But it’s not always easy. It can be hard.

“WHAT?! YOU’RE KIDDING!” As fast I can, I jump up, spilling water all over those dreadful papers.
“No, I’m not,” he says in a calm voice.
“But who would get the job?” I ask. I have a guess, and I was right.
“You get to pick who it is. After all, you’ll be working with them for a long time.”
So with that, I was bound to this quest. I had to find someone who was good at almost everything and who could keep a bit secret. All of these thoughts were in my head, but I could tell he was reading them like words on a simple little invitation. “I don’t need a partner!” I snap back. The frustration was building up and boiling until it was stone-cold anger.
“I know you don’t, but I think it would be nice,” he says.
I am all full of anger now, and I can’t control it. I get up and walk out of the room with hands of frustration. I slam the door, and through it all my heart longs to ask Maggie.

“So…do you want to?” I try to chew my lip, but I’m stuck waiting for an answer.
“Are you kidding me? YES!”
So there it is—the story of how Maggie became a spy. And she’s good at it, too.
