I am reluctant to write to you today in the following matter, and only do so because I know how much good you have done and are doing for Hungary, and because I know how much you have at heart the welfare of my native country.

The cause for which I am now asking your consideration is a very good and necessary one, and one which I am sure will appeal to you. The documents I am sending you herewith were addressed to me, and naturally I will do all that lies in my power to help, but knowing your generosity it occurred to me that I might take the liberty of drawing your attention to them. If you have already been approached on this subject, you will forgive my doing so.

I have had the documents translated for your convenience, and would ask you very kindly to let me have the two originals back when you can, so that I may also act in the matter.

In case you decide to help this cause, in whatever form it may be, may I ask you to communicate with the President, István Csók,^[1] V., Erzmébet-tér Nemzeti Szalon, Budapest, Hungary.

I am pleased to advise you that I have had some very enjoyable sittings with Miss Wilson, and hope to finish her portrait [7760] by the end of this week or the beginning of next.

I have just heard from Mr. Harmsworth that he is very pleased that I am to paint his children [4774][4776][4782], and I am much looking forward to it. He says he would prefer if I could paint them during the Christmas holidays, and I will now make the necessary arrangements with him.

With my apologies for begging, which I always hate to do!
