Schroeder YMCA Swim Team

  1. The Sixth Annual Friends of Schroeder Campaign is beginning with a goal of $30,000!  Last year's total was an impressive $22,500.  A mix of fundraising, training fees and other program revenue, and revenue from either hosting events or being the host site for events has provided enough income to offset the nearly $1,000,000 in expenses annually.

Schroeder and it’s programs depend on support from its Friends to help fund programs we know are important and are not affordable to some and to help underwrite the costs of the facility’s operation.

  1. Please sign up for the following meets ASAP.  Listed below are the   deadline dates for the meets that are coming up.

  1. YMCA Finalist is due by Monday, November 25

  1. If you haven’t already signed up, the deadline to commit/decline for the Conference Championship (on Sat., 12/7) for all RED, WHITE, and BLUE swimmers is this Tuesday, November 26th.  We recommend you commit right away so it’s not forgotten when you start making those Thanksgiving pies!

  1. Raffle Items needed for Y Finalist.  Proceeds from the two raffles that we conduct during the Y Finalist and the A+ are an important piece of the Friends of Schroeder Campaign.   The kinds of items that have proven to be successful are:  Tickets for sporting events, the play station 4, Ipods, and other electronics.  Often families will team up and purchase an item together which works out really well.  So far we have an Ipad mini and a pair of Beats Headphones.  Thanks!

  1. Minnesota GRAND PRIX MEET: Five Schroeder swimmers traveled to the University of Minnesota to compete in the Arena Grand Prix Meet last weekend.  The meet featured dozens of Olympians and World Ranked swimmers, both US and foreign.  Ashlyn Schoof, Katie Taylor, Holly Stoll, Hannah Saiz and Connor Andrews all turned in amazing swims.  Ashlyn stole the show with a very strong meet and was recognized in both Swimming World and SwimSwam for her performance (see the SST homepage WSAC News or the links below to see pictures and articles).  She finished fourth in the 100 Back (54.52) and turned heads with a second place in the 200 Back with a Wisconsin 13 & 14 State Record of 1:56.77.  Both times established new Schroeder 13 & 14 and Open team records.  Hannah also had two Top 8 finishes with 6th place finishes in the 100 and 200 Butterfly events.  Congrats to all for a great meet!!
