Dear Sir,
My attention has recently been drawn to what appears to be an ‘early’ work of yours which has been placed in a shop window prominently for all to see & marked for sale at the ridiculous price of five pounds – it is signed P de Laszlo & dated I think 1898.
I am unable at the moment to purchase the work myself – but I feel that it is not to your best interests for anyone but yourself to acquire it – a master I
[The following annotation in the artist’s hand] will you enquire about this! it is false – as I signed myself – P. de László only since 1912

may say of whom for many years I have been a humble but keen admirer.
Should you desire further details I should be glad to communicate them immediately & assure you of any services I am able to render[1]
