P.A.De Laszlo. Esq.

My Dear President

Perhaps, I ought to trouble you at this juncture, but you have so endeared yourself to the whole of the R.B.A members, that I as one of the seniors who remember you kindly, since when I was associated with Sir Alfred East[1] on the Council, cannot refrain from saying how deeply moved, I was to see you dear Son had suffered a tragic loss & your family circle had received such a prostrating blow.[2]

Your invariable consideration for everybody with whom you are in contact is a sure idea that you must be suffering greatly at this crisis & I’d venture to offer you my deepest sympathy. It is gratifying to note in the newspapers that your son is progressing favourably & I trust he will soon be well & happily restored to you.

Sincerely yours

W.E. Riley.

PS. In the multitude of your correspondence at this time may I say that I should well understand if you do not find time to reply to this!!
